I. College profile

Shaanxi College of Communications Technology is a public higher vocational college launched by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and jointly constructed by the Provincial Education Department and the Department of Transport, being a national quality higher vocational college, one of the first 100 modern pilot apprenticeship colleges approved by the Ministry of Education, a pilot college of 1+X certificate system of the Ministry of Education, Shaanxi Provincial quality demonstration higher vocational college, Shaanxi Provincial first-class college, and Shaanxi Provincial high-level higher vocational college construction unit. The college is committed to training high-quality technical and skilled personnel in transport and is praised as a “cradle for talented transport construction management personnel in Western China”. It is located in Xi’an Economic and Technological Development Zone that features the beautiful landscape, profound culture and clustered industries, with the ancient city wall in the south, Xi’an municipal government in the north, Daming Palace National Heritage Park in the east and Han Dynasty Chang’an City Heritage Protection Area in the west, as the only provincial higher vocational college with its main campus within the main urban area of Xi’an City. The Subway Lines 2 and 4 and 9 bus lines near the campus cover the entire urban area of Xi’an City; while inside the campus are birds, flowers and green trees, constituting a good place for study and life. The school currently has over 16000 full-time students on campus.

IV. Major details

1. Road and Bridge Engineering Technology (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to build and manage front-line road and bridge design and management positions for transportation projects and train high-quality technical and skilled personnel who are equipped with relatively strong basic professional skills and are capable of the professional technical positions relating to highway survey and design, road, bridge & culvert design, and road & bridge construction at road construction and management enterprises.

Core courses: Engineering Survey, Engineering Drawing and CAD, Applied Mechanics, Road Construction Materials, Road and Bridge BIM Technology, Structural Design Principles, Highway Survey and Design, Subgrade and Pavement Engineering, Bridge Engineering Technology, Engineering Geology, Ground and Foundation Engineering, Highway Bridge and Culvert Design, Highway Construction Organization and Budget Estimate, Project Bidding and Contract Management, etc.

2.Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Technology (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel who are equipped with an all-round ability in areas such as morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics, the solid basic scientific and cultural knowledge and knowledge relating to automobile construction, automobile maintenance, automobile inspection and fault diagnosis, automobile maintenance service reception, the ability in automobile maintenance, automobile fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, automobile performance testing, and automobile maintenance service reception, the craftsmanship spirit and information literacy, and the competence required to be engaged in automobile maintenance, automotive electrical and mechanical maintenance, automobile service consulting, automobile inspection, etc.

3.New Energy Vehicle Technology (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel who are equipped with an all-round ability in areas such as morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics, the solid basic scientific and cultural knowledge and knowledge relating to the structure and principles of new energy vehicle power battery, drive motor and electronic control system, new energy vehicle power supply management and network structure, fault diagnosis strategy and relevant laws and regulations, the ability in assembly and commissioning of the complete vehicle and key parts of new energy vehicles, performance testing and sample fabrication and test, the craftsmanship spirit and information literacy, and the competence required to be engaged in assembly and commissioning of the complete vehicle and key parts of new energy vehicles, quality inspection, manufacturing site management, sample fabrication and test, new energy vehicle maintenance and service, etc.

4.Engineering Survey Technology (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel to be engaged in surveying, mapping and management, to be specific, engineering design and survey, construction survey and line and bridge & tunnel survey, for the surveying and mapping, highway, high-speed railway, metro, mine, urban planning and construction, natural resources, real estate and other industries.

5.Urban Rail Transit Operation and Management (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel who are equipped with the knowledge and skills relating to the maintenance and operation of urban rail transit operation equipment, passenger transportation organization, passenger transportation service, operation organization and emergency treatment, the skills required for urban rail operation and management and the competence to be engaged in rail transit front-line station management, train traffic control, passenger transportation organization and service and ticket management, etc.

7. Hotel Management and Digital Operation (length of schooling: 3 years)

Training objective: This major aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel such as forwarding agents, warehousing and distribution personnel, import and export customs clearance personnel and international freight forwarding agents for road transport, multimodal transport, forwarding agent, warehousing and distribution, and commercial service industries and those who are engaged in warehousing, transport and distribution, customs declaration and declaration for inspection and quarantine of imported and exported goods, international freight forwarder, etc.

Training objective: This major keeps pace with the e-commerce new media channel operation and development and aims to train high-quality technical and skilled personnel. Such personnel will be equipped with firm ideals and principles, an all-round ability in areas such as morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics, certain professional knowledge and skills, the ability in new media operation and maintenance, marketing planning and promotion, new media editing, customer service and logistics management, and they will be engaged in new media channel operation and maintenance, editing, planning, promotion and customer service, serving Internet wholesale, retail and other industries based on the new media platform, for Shaanxi Province and across China.

V. Advantage of combined education

We have executed a combined education agreement with Chang'an University, so international students obtaining a graduation certificate from Shaanxi College of  Communications Technology can continue to take the undergraduate courses at Chang'an University for 1.5-2 years and receive an undergraduate diploma and a bachelor's degree certificate once they satisfy the graduation requirements of Chang'an University.

Chang’an University is directly governed by the Ministry of Education, one of the first batch of key universities under the national “211 Project”, a national “predominant discipline innovation platform university under the 985 Project”, a national “Double First-rate” university and the partner of Shaanxi  College of Communications Technology for combined education.

VI. Tuitions

Tuitions: RMB 8000/year

Accommodation expenses: four-bed room RMB 2000/year, three-bed room RMB 3000/year

Textbook charges: RMB 500/year (collection according to reality)

Premium: RMB 800/year

Physical examination fee: RMB 500/year

VII. Scholarship

1. Admission scholarship: Freshmen will be awarded RMB 15000, which is granted on a monthly basis for 10 months to cover their living expenses.

2. Excellent student scholarship: Sophomores and juniors will be awarded at three levels: Level A: RMB 15000, Level B: RMB 12000 and Level C: RMB 10000, which is granted on a monthly basis for 10 months to cover their living expenses.

3. Individual scholarship: International students winning prizes in various discipline competitions or passing the HSK examination will be awarded. Those winning prizes in national competitions will be awarded RMB 5000-10000; those winning prizes in provincial-level competitions will be awarded RMB 1000-5000; those passing the HSK4 examination will be awarded RMB 800; those passing the HSK5 examination will be awarded RMB 1000. The scholarship will be granted based on the first HSK examination results.
